This weekend Birmingham will see an explosion of all things geeky! The NEC will be hosting the Memorabilia Show and if you’re prepared to ignore the sports collectable bit *shudder* then you’ll be able to spend your time in an event sponsored by the likes of Manga, Wizards of the Coast, Starz, SyFy and TokyoToys.
There’s some big names at the event as well. The organisers have managed to secure much of the Red Dwarf cast; Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules, Hattie Hayridge and Norman Lovett. I watched Norman Lovett in the 2010 Edinburgh Festival and I really though it unlikely he would be available for any more Red Dwarf fan service. This may be the last chance.
They’ve also scooped larger than life and hero actor Brian Blessed. I think I’d love to meet in him in real life. I suspect I may be too timid to get too close! It’s rumoured that he’ll be playing King Dain in the Hobbit movies – and it’s clear that PR people are very happy to play up on those rumours!
