There will be no Doctor Who on Chinese TV. There won’t be any Star Trek either. Why not? The Chinese govenment has banned any and all time travel in TV or in movies.
There. Of course. That’s your answer. If you’re wondering why the Chinese have done this then you need to consider the importance of being respectful to history. It’s important. Well. It’s important if you’re a Chinese official from the State Administration for Radio, Film & Television. In a statement the Administration has said that time time;
“…. casually make up myths, have monstrous and weird plots, use absurd tactics, and even promote feudalism, superstition, fatalism and reincarnation.”
See that last comment about “reincarnation”? Yup. Clearly a certain Time Lord has really caught their attention. No more jellybeans and japes! The Administration went on to say;
“Producers and writers are treating serious history in a frivolous way, which should by no means be encouraged anymore.”
