There had been rumblings of trouble but face it – when Doctor Who isn’t on air there’s nothing quite like worrying what could go wrong. Doctor Who fans like myself are very good at it.
It turns out some the more recent rumbles are correct. Beth Willis will be leaving Doctor Who. Beth was one of the important Producer types who would show up in Doctor Who Confidential.
Steven Moffat said, in a statement released via the BBC;
“We couldn’t keep her forever, though God knows I tried. She is off to be brave and brilliant in brand new ways, and the sad news for Doctor Who is that it will be somewhere else.”
It’s expected that Willis will return to Kudos Film & Television. She worked there on Ashes to Ashes prior to joining the Doctor Who team.
Hopefully Beth left on good terms. In the same press statement, Willis said;
“Working with Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger and Matt Smith on the last two series of Doctor Who has been the most fantastic experience and I will miss them hugely… The plans taking shape for the next series of Doctor Who and for the 50th Anniversary are beyond exciting – and with Steven Moffat at the helm, this incredibly special time for the show is in very safe hands.”
