The good news for Game is that they have the exclusive Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition. This means that the troubled retailer will be able to sell the £130 combiniton of the game, statue, map, journal, soundtrack CD, extra content and metal case and no one else can.
Originally the likes of Play.com, Amazon, Zavvi and ShopTo were supposed to get the deal but EA now says that was a mistake.
Game’s pleased with this. Neil Ashurst, PR bod for the digitally cautious shop, said;
“Star Wars is one of the biggest entertainment franchises ever, and with so much buzz around the release of The Old Republic, we know the Star Wars community will be wanting to get their hands on the game as soon as it’s out of beta this month.
“It’s great to see so much enthusiasm and anticipation around Old Republic and we’re happy to be able to offer GAME and Gamestation’s Star Wars fans this special edition.”
Here’s the catch – right now a search for Old Republic on Game fails to surface the Collector’s Edition. You can’t actually buy it from the site.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is due out on Tuesday, December 20th – at which point you can download it directly from EA Origin.
