TechRadar is the techie site for Future Publishing. Future’s been a powerhouse in traditional publishing and like the rest of the industry is battling hard to make online work for them.
TechRadar is what you might expect from a tech blog with lots of coverage of the trends. Future, however, is big enough to maintain forums and an Omio powered mobile phone store.
The latest twist is TechRadarDeals which looks to tap into the discount culture that grew to dangerous size in 2011. We’re promised lots of 50% and more discounts from the site but only one at a time. In fact, there’s even a count down timer for how long the deal is valid for.
For me the twist is the difference in numbers. I’m put off TechRadar by it’s sheer volume. TechRadar needs that volume to compete in search but as an RSS user it scares me. Tech Deals would be much kinder to my time but there’s no RSS for new deals – you have to surrender your email address in order to establish contact.
