I think this speaks to the power of a good video. For what seems like ages now I’ve been aware of geek shopping sites like Think Geek and Firebox selling “Air Swimmers”. These are floating clown fish and sharks that have remote controls.
I think I’d previously dimissed the air swimmer ebcause they’d been marketed towards younger kids. They’re like the step before that RC helicopter. The video below changes my mind.
I wonder whether these Air Swimmers would be any good as LARP encounters?
I imagine no one would want their Air Swimmer bashed with a latex club. Let’s rule that one out. It’s whether the flying shark can be used outside and how much wind would it take before that became and challenge and lingers in my mind.
I’m pretty sure you could use these inside as part of an encounter when a touch by an air swimmer equals trouble. You might even be able to get away with dressing up the air swimmer and still having it light enough to fly.
