Time is running out to support Dark Tavern Press’ The Shroud of the Ancients adventure for the D5 roleplaying game.
At the time of posting the Kickstarter campaign had 24 backers and just over $1,500 raised of a modest $5,000 total. There are 6 days to go.

The Should of the Ancients is set in the world of Terrath. The system uses skills, rather than career, choices to define the characters. As you might expect the D5 system actually uses five-sided die; in fact, 5D5 is used for every roll.
It’s clear that Randy Miller and Roderick Edwards were hoping for some serious backing to the game. The project details layout what the team will do should the Kickstarter project raise as much as $30,000.
RPG publishers are still getting to grips with Kickstarter – as are RPG supporters. One of the issues the Shroud of the Ancients may be facing is that the donation curve is rather steep. The smallest donation you can make is $10. That gets you an acknowledgement and a PDF copy of the book. That’s good value but some Kickstarter campaigns start much lower down. The next hops are: $20, $30 and then $60.
However, the pitch for Shroud of the Ancients is professional (check out the video above) and the Dark Tavern Press team well known. It’s traditional for Kickstarter projects to have a surge in the last few days – let’s see what happens here.
