Kaijudo is a new Duel Masters franchise from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast. Wizards of the Coast, of course, being Hasbro’s brand not just for Dungeons and Dragons but for trading card games too.
Kaijudo is described as a multimedia franchise. This means expect computer games, toys as well as the trading card game style we might expect from Wizards of the Coast. A TV series is being produced by Hasbro Studios and will air in the US on The Hub TV network. There’s no mention, yet, of any international coverage.
Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters looks like a familiar format – teenagers with battling monsters.
Greg Leeds, President of Wizards of the Coast, said;
“As a world leader in creating compelling entertainment featuring stories and fantastic artwork in a variety of expressions, Wizards is looking forward to unleashing the excitement of Kaijudo this year,”
“We are thrilled to be working with the talented team at Hasbro Studios and leveraging the growing popularity of The Hub to bring this unique franchise to the U.S. market.”
The TV series follows Ray – who is able to befriend and duel with these monsters from a parallel world. Not only does Ray have to battle to save this world – he needs to save the parallel world as well. He needs to turn Kaijudo to do this. The Facebook page reveals more details and talks about five civilzations.
