If you’re not familiar with the acronym CSR then let me tell you there’s a debate as to whether that is a good thing or not. CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility and it represents companies thinking about their responsibility to communities, to nature and even the future. It may be good that you’ve never heard of CSR because that might – stress: might – suggest that CSR is happening naturally and you’ve not had something that looks like a token effort dropped on your lap.
Sadly, I’m pretty sure many companies take their CSR in the same way their take their tax bills – an unwelcome, unwanted, but yet necessity of the modern world. You can tell these companies from the way they handle their CSR – cheaply.
That’s why I like Sony’s approach to CSR. For a start it engages with blogs, like this one, and it has a budget to get the message across in the same way as actual Sony products do.
The video below, technically an ad, is a thought leadership piece from Sony that invites us to think what the world of 2025 might be like.
Yeah, there’s a technology focus here. That’s why Geek Native is interested and I’m sure the role of technology in the future is very important to Sony as well.
The video shows four scenarios; hyper innovation, centralised survival, shared ownership and a new definition for prosperity.
What do you make of this possible vision of the future? Importantly, do you approve of Sony’s attempts to try and address them?
