It was back in August of 2011 that we covered news of Margaret Weis Productions landing the Marvel RPG license. At the time we were told there would be some 16 books in total, the first coming out in February as the basic game.
It’s now February and Margaret Weis Productions are as good as their word. The Marvel Heroic Roleplaying: Basic Game is available for pre-order at Amazon (expected March) but you can buy it already in PDF format at DriveThru RPG.
The Basic Game for Marvel Heroic Roleplaying includes an operations manual for the mechanics, an adventure called Breakout based on the New Avengers story arc from Brian Michael Bendis and Hero Data files that include Captain America, Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. I assume it’s not all all of the X-Men.
Amazon lists the paperback version as being 128-pages with a shipping weight of 1.7 pounds. Although it’s just a pre-order title, at the time this post goes live, the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying: Basic Game is #5 in Amazon.com’s top fantasy gaming sellers list behind Final Fantasy XIII-2 Guide, two Pathfinder books and D&D’s Heroes of the Elemental Chaos.
If we stick to MWP’s original product plan then we can expect three “big” event books out next.
