Dungeonslayers is a popular RPG that you pay for – if you want.
The game has an old school feel, level-based and fantasy but with a modern set of rules. The rules themselves aren’t very long – just 10 pages long. They’re also free as a download.
Created by Christian Kenning in 2008 in Germany, the rules have been updated four times and a professional printed edition was released in German in 2010. Many German gamers have been willing to pay for the printed copy.
Chronicle City, Angus Abranson’s new company, has partnered with Uhrwerk Verlag the Dungeonslayers publisher, to bring the game to the English language market. The game will still be available as a free, English language, PDF download but a paid-for printed version will be produced.
Uhrwerk Verlag plenty of experience on this sort of partnership – there’s already an Italian Dungeonslayers agreement in place with Wild Boar Edizioni. In addition, Uhrwek Verlag are responsible for the German editions of Deadlands, Legend of the Five Rings, Hollow earth Expedition as well as the German language edition of The One Ring.
The site Dungeonslayers.com is an English language resource for the game.
