TERA has launched successfully in Europe across 10 servers. The Blueshoe Studio game was been highly anticipated because of the twists it places on the traditional MMO. Well; twist.
What TERA does differently is the combat. The game is something of a cross between a beat em’ up and an MMO when it comes to melee. Players actually have to use skill in fights, making sure they have their characters in the right location so they’re able to intercept monsters or cast spells correctly. This is an MMO you can play with a handheld controller.

I think the comments from Ellen-Jane Austin, the UK and USA community manager, put the thrill of TERA into the right context. Her comments, her memories, on how her party managed an encounter reminds me of tabletop RPG chat.
The question is – what do you think? TERA isn’t a free to play game. Prices start at €12.95 a month but drop if you get addicted, er, I mean, book longer time periods.
