Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman in 1939 and so the Dark Knight lived through the Rockabilly era of the 1950s. I suspect, though, Batman art and stories haven’t been touched by the Rockabilly style until now.
I keep on wanting to type “rockability” – but I suspect that’s the gamer in me trying to get the word ability into everything. Rockabilly actually comes from “Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “hillbilly music”. Keep that rather odd but surprisingly effective blend of lifestyle in mind as you check out some of Denis Medri’s exciting art.
I’d actually like to see a rockabilly Batman series. Do you?
Rockabilly Batman
Rockabilly Bane and Poison Ivy
Rockabilly Batgirl, Alfred and Lieutenant Gordon
Rockabilly Robin and Nightwing
Rockabilly Two-Face and Penguin
Rockabilly Joker
Rockabilly Harley Quinn and The Riddler
Rockabilly Killer Croc and Mr Freeze
Rockabilly Catwoman
I’m quite fond of the mechanic Alfred concept too. What do you think?
