Another day. Another Kickstarter gamer pitch. This time let’s look at The Realm of Thyilia. At the current rate they’re not going to make their goal of $20,000. They’ve raised just $1,035 at the time of posting and have 20 days left to go. It’ll take a big blog to give them some coverage.
The thing is; in amongst all these Kickstarter campaigns to make computer games – I wonder if the Flying Llama team might just deserve a little attention.

I think the video needs to explain the game a little better. This is not a classic RPG – because it’s a computer game. This isn’t even a classic computer RPG because, I think, it’s an MMORPG. However, I accept their point in that modern MMORPGs feel little like the Everquest and Ultimate Online of yesteryear.
The Realm of Thyilia (and I suspect they need to get rid of all special characters from the title) is designed to be a modern game that has the best ambience of the older games. Flying Llama are clearly a young team but I like their guts. Something tells me that if this doesn’t work that they’ll be back for a second attempt. I also have the feeling that, eventually, they’ll be successful.
It’s the passion for the game that I like and the determination to do it well for the sake of doing it well. If you’re worried that pitches like Ouya might be a scam then, I suspect, Thyilia’s pitch will seem more real to you.
