Deadline have an exclusive that suggests a Blake’s 7 reboot is coming.
It’s said that Martin Campbell (director, Casino Royal) will team up with writer Joe Pokaski (Heroes, CSI) and producer Marc Rosen with funding from Motion Picture Capital for the series.
Blake’s 7 is old – early 80s old. If you don’t know it then you may be surprised by how “dark” it could be. After all, it is a series that follows a band of criminals who find themselves as somewhat reluctant heroes. Deadline cites the “The Dirty Dozen in space” nickname.
The series was very popular at the time and created by Terry Nation. That’s the same Terry Nation who created the daleks for Doctor Who.
There have been many rumours of a Blake’s 7 remake before. Paul Darrow, who played Avon in the series, has certainly been active. Just this year he returned to the role of Kerr Avon for Blake’s 7: The Liberator Chronicles – a series of readings for Big Finish Productions.
Sky had plans to remake the series in 2010 too but those were scrapped.
