The World Premiere launch of the eleventh Doctor style Sonic Screwdriver as a Universal Screwdriver will happen at the Forbidden Planet Megastore in London, at 179 Shaftesbury Avenue. The date is Saturday, 25th August.
If you want to take one of the TV controlling Sonic Screwdrivers home then pre-orders are highly recommended.
The remote control Sonic Screwdriver costs £59.99, is hand polished, copper plated, diecast metal construction but with a soft touch grip. It has a personal lock, can store different codes and has 13 authentic special FX sounds.
You can, for example, train this Sonic Screwdriver to control your iPod dock.
At the London event the creators of the device, Richard Blakesley and Chris Barnardo will be giving live demonstrations. There will be a dress up competition and a special numbered version of the Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control as a prize. If you forget to pre-order this may be your best bet at getting one.
Other launch dates for the Universal Remote Control Sonic Screwdriver
The Forbidden Planet website will start to ship Sonic Screwdrivers from the 31st of August.
Also on the 31st will be an official launch at the Birmingham Store, 38 Priory Queensway and at the Bristol Megastore, Units 4&5 Clifton Heights.
At both Birmingham and Bristol there will be live demos and a dress up competition. A “normal” Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control will be the prize.
On Saturday, 1st of Septemberthere will be special showings, with dress up competitions and prizes at the following locations:
