Charging through the maelstrom that is the month of December is the Fifth Echo. Think of it as a, um, a charging knight through, err, a maelstrom monster-thing. Yeah. But wait? This isn’t December. This issue of Echoes from the Wyrd was launched on January the 1st 2003. Why? It makes sense. In a stroke we can combine GameWyrd’s monthly prize announcements with the contents of the newsletter. You’ll see plenty of previews this month too. We’re committed to nagging publishers on your behalf so we can include sneaky peaks of new and forthcoming products here.
GameWyrd Winners!
The Console Crazy competition has closed but the quiz is still live on the site. The two winners of a free copy of Wild Arms 3 for the Playstation are Tiax Ar’dyll and philodox.
GameWyrd’s monthly Treasure Chest game was won by Azeroth. He managed to equal last month’s total and tally up 8 lots of loot!
Congratulations! In order to collect the prize you have to reply to the email you’ve got from us. Thanks to those of you who’ve done so.
Interactive Stories
What’s up with the interactive stories? At the minute you can read them but you can’t create new stories or add new pages. Experienced Wyrdlings will recognise the signs of an imminent upgrade. These experienced Wyrdlings will be right! We well that the interactive stories really are something special; something that keeps GameWyrd different and that they could be better still. Improvements will include two different formats for the interaction and the option to manually approve each submission to a story you’ve created. If you have other suggestions of your own then share them on the forums.
GameWyrd’s Mark of Approval
Did you know just how much punch GameWyrd’s Mark of Approval has? If you Google search the term you’ll see GameWyrd’s approval is the top choice, better than 1,570,000 or so other sites!
December’s choice for the Mark of Approval goes to Black Talon Adventuring Company. The approval committee liked the site because there was universal admiration for recording the progress of a campaign and publishing it to the Internet. The Black Talons site is simple but effective, proud but not arrogant. Other committee comments included praise for including some roleplaying and lengthy plot in a HackMaster game and the note that you don’t have to be an expensive site with your own domain name to win the award. Back Talons is hosted at Geocities.
