Saturday, June the 15th, 2013 is the next Free RPG Day. That may feel like a long way off but Impressions the games distribution service company who promote it are busy trying to woo sponsors. Publisher? Sign up via this PDF form link.
There are already big names onboard; Paizo Publishing, Fantasy Flight Games, Troll Lord Games, Frog God Games and Goodman Games have already signed up.
This will be the seventh year the program has run and Impressions are hoping to add in a sales incentive to help encourage retailers to stock up the for event. The company is also expanding out of the traditional RPG giveways to include the likes of dice, cases, maps, miniatures, scenary, comics, geek-culture stuff and even food.
It’s not all big name publishers who are gearing up to try and support the event either. I spotted this Kickstarter from Vickey and Bob at Obatron Productions for Tunse’al: a tribal, fantasy setting.
If companies like Obatron can rally enough support to join and help Free RPG Day then not only will the event encourage new blood into the industry but it might encourage old gamers to try something new. Either way; the local retail store should do well.
