It’s April Fools’ Day and therefore understandable that people are treating this news with cautious – but many news outlets are reporting that Lacasarts and Dark Horse will publish The Star Wars. Bleeding Cool has the same news but Rich Johnston’s write up was published yesterday. Let’s go with this as being real.
Back in 1974 George Lucas wrote a screenplay called The Star Wars. That script laid the seeds for the movie that eventually became Star Wars. It’s similar in some respects but also very different. There’s a Jedi called Annikin Starkiller. Han Solo is a reptillian alien and Luke is an older Jedi general.
The eight issue series will launch in September. J.W. Rinzler, executive editor at LucasBooks will be working on the project with artist Mike Mayhew (Avengers).
ComicVine’s Mat Elfring has a preview of the series which looks pretty cool. Star Wars that we know – and yet different.
