Games Salute announced plans to do a series of tabletop games. CEO Dan Yarrington said;
The Princess Bride: The Board Game will be a series of mini-games, each mapped to a scene in the movie. This allows players to pick up a short party game and play for less than an hour or engage on an epic day of fencing, revenge, chases, true love and miracles. The company’s CSO, James Takenaka, spoke to IVc2 at GAMA and talked about a game called Princess Bride: Prepare to Die and a second simply called Princess Bride for now.Princess Bride: Prepare to Die is a party game for large groups of people. Takenaka described it as an Apples to Apples style game. He said;
”It’s kind of a party game format, but it’s kind of an Apples to Apples version of Princess Bride. You’ll be like, ‘Hello, my name is Arnold Schwarzenegger… you ate my pie, prepare to die!’ or something like that. And there will be a judge, who determines what the best mixture of the statement was.”
The second game Takenaka described at GAMA matches Games Salute’s initial Princess Bride news. This is the game that will let players re-create scenes from the game.
“What we’re looking at doing is a bunch of mini games, where you can play just a mini game of a certain chapter in the story of thePrincess Bride, or you can put all those little mini games together to play out the whole movie.”
Prepare to Die may be released at Gen Con this year and the Board Game is due out in time for Christmas.
