This July we’ll see a new The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey board game from Cryptozoic ship to hobby stores. In fact, this may be Amazon’s page for it.
Designed by Reiner Knizia the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey game makes use of two boards, a handful of dice, 14 dwarf cards, 18 resource titles, 2 treasure tiles and 32 event cards. It has players (1 to 4) cooperate to cross the Lone-Lands and Misty Mountains.
The goal of the game is to make use of your limited resources, collect gold and gems, deal with goblins, trolls and other creatures and the obstacles that get in the way. Progress is awarded with points so you can compare games against previous attempts to measure how well you did.
Players join Bilbo and the 13 dwarves in the Unexpected Journey in games that will likely take 30 to 45 minutes.
