You’ve seen the Marvel films and know how they all live in the same “Universe.” We had the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents throughout and then the Avengers as the wrap.
Will DC manage something similar? Will Superman act the starting movie that creates a world the others live in? If so then attention must turn to Guillermo del Toro who seems likely to be directing the next big DC film at this rate.
Del Toro’s project is a Justice League Dark. The movie is currently known as Dark Universe and may well feature characters like Deadman, the Spectre, Zatanna, the Demon, Swamp Thing and John Constantine.
He was asked about plans for a cinematic universe by MTV and said;
“I think the great thing about the ‘Dark Universe,’ you have this possibility of basically creating a supernatural group, and you can play by different rules, but I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel film universe. So if there’s any correlation, I will honor it.”
At the same time it seems the popular director is off any sort of project for Marvel. At one point he was connected with a Hulk TV series. How is the relationship between the publisher and the director these days? Here’s what Guillermo had to say about that;
“I have no idea, I literally just stopped hearing from them after the movie opened.
There’s a video on the MTV page but it’s geo-tarded so you may not be able to watch it.
