This isn’t a Kickstarter you normally see on Geek Native. It’s art. It’s biology. It’s not a game, anyway, but it’s certainly geeky and I think it passes the test of “would a gamer be interested in this?” I can imagine a little dinosaur pet glowing away when the lights dim for a session of dungeoneering.
Get your own glowing dinosaur model – that’s actually alive. Not bad, huh?
This is a funded Kickstarter. At the time of posting they had over 1,500 backers and more than $70,000 pledged. The goal was only $50,000 and there’s 22 days on the clock. You get a Dino Pet for $40.
I wrestled with whether to back this or not. It’s cool. Yes, hugely cool. However, the dino pet will probably only live for three or so months while the dinoflagellates thrive. You can extend this (forever) by topping up with dino food from the producers. They’re still working on the design though, still testing how to add liquid to that cute dino shape shown.
International shipping is different. It’s not an extra cost. It’s a different pledge level. The lowest pledge someone in Europe can make to get a Dino Pet is $125. That’s a tougher ask but they’ve 24 backers.
Are you tempted?
