Dan Abnett’s 2000 AD series “Kingdom” is an action-packed comic book series in which genetically created dog-soldiers defend the Antarctic from mutant insect horrors. It’s a post-apocalyptic future that explores loyalty, nature and nurture as well as the sense of belonging but is very much a blood soaked action drama in fitting with the best 2000 AD has to offer.
Abaddon Books announced today that Dan Abnett and Nik Vincent would co-author a novel set in the same world. Fiefdom is set 100 years after the adventures of Gene the Hackman, Kingdom’s central character, and the action moves from the South to the North Hemisphere.
The incredibly dangerous monster insects, known only as “Them”, are nothing but a folk memory now and the dog-soldiers have bred into warring clans and families. Set in the ruins of Berlin, Kingdom: Fiefdom follows young Evelyn War as she questions the status quo and begins to hear rumours of the return of Them.
It’s expected that Kingdom: Fiefdom will be out in paperback and ebook for July 2014.
