The concept with cloud-based gaming is that your local machine; whether that’s a PC, console or iPad doesn’t have to do all the work. If you’re online then why not have a powerful bank of servers help with the crunching. How good could the graphics, world size and multiplayer get then?
Square Enix has shared some demos of “Project Flare”; that’s their cloud-based gaming solution. There’s a video for Final Fantasy XI (shown above) and one for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The video on the bottom if the density video; showinghow multiple servers and processors can be tapped at once.
Square Enix said the project would offer;
Hollywood-quality animation running in real time to deepen the player’s immersion, uncapping AI and physics processing to realize the extremes of realism and fantasy, and video streams allowing even existing games to be enjoyed in new ways.
