Here in the UK whenever there’s a political storm the Member of Parliament knows they’re in trouble whenever the Prime Minister is forced to publically back them. It usually means the tide has turned against the errant politician and very soon they’ll be forced to step down.
Hopefully there’s no parallel here but the BBC has come out in support of the new, Steven Moffat designed, Doctor Who.
Wales Online has a quote from Julian Payne, who heads up communications at BBC Vision, which goes like this;
“We remain hugely committed to the brand of Doctor Who in all its forms, and we have a wonderful new team in place who are very excited about taking the show on new adventures.”
What did you think of The End of Time?
It wasn’t as bad as I feared but certainly not as good as I hoped. It’s interesting to note the diplomatic language in the same Wales Online article from Dr Who fans.
Peter Bell, described as a ‘super-fan’ (if you know his site; please leave a comment) was quoted saying;
“I must admit I was a bit disappointed and it was all a bit self-conscious,” the 28-year-old said.
“There was lots of wrapping up loose ends, and it was as much Russell T Davies saying goodbye as it was David Tennant. But it had some great moments and it was the right time to change.”
I suspect a lot of people will be nodding at the “right time to change” comment. Let’s hope the BBC gives Moffat and Matt time to reshape the show.
