I’ve a feeling that Simian Circle Games won’t think too poorly of me for describing the Far Away Land RPG as odd. It’s most certainly odd. If you’re not able to watch the video right now then you have snails rising up to use lasers to defend the land from demon-like creatures. The demon creatures failing to connect their realm to Far Away Land, causing all sorts of weird monsters to arrive, the war ending but the creatures staying. There are floating heads and bear riding nuns.
Sound like your cup of tea?
Well. Far Away Land may sound odd but it’s also proving to be atractive. It is safely in the stretch goal area over on Kickstarter. The campaign wanted only $1,500 and with 15 days left to go has over $4,000. A backing of $10 gets you a PDF of the core rules – a simple d6 system.
FAL awards characters for humour and training montages allow characters to tap into XP and upgrades. The group works together with mini-games to help create their own unique world and so the emphasis isn’t all on the GM. It’s a non-standard fantasy. After all, the Soarcans – the giant floating heads – speak dubstep.
The Kickstarter has unlocked extra art, dragons and now heroes and villains. Next up are religions and cults with maps of Far Away Land looking likely.
