US retailer Barnes and Noble have two new pre-order entries on their website. The first is D&D Starter Set and the second is D&D Player’s Handbook.
There really isn’t much on either page. There’s price and release date. The D&D Starter Set is due out on the 15th July, 2014 and will cost $19.99 ($17.99 from Barnes and Noble). The D&D Player’s Handbook is more expensive, costing $49.95 (or just $37.96 from Barnes and Noble) and is due out on 19th August, 2014.
That’s quite a gap between the two books!
Gen Con is the 14th to 17th of August this year. The release of the Player’s Handbook just after Gen Con makes sense. In fact, it’s easy to speculate you’ll be able to buy your own copy of D&D Next at the event.
The spotlight then turns to the Starter Set that comes out a month before. What’s in it? Will established D&D players need to buy it or can we pick up from the Player’s Handbook? Will we want to buy it?
What do you think?
