Hero Games are aiming for a 240-paged book with all the rules necessary to play the classic Fantsay Hero RPG. While it will be compatible with all Hero System 6th edition books; you don’t need anything else to play.
There are PDF copies of the book available and those who back with just $10 will get access to it along with a thank you. If you jump up to $30 then you’ll get the book and the PDF which is expected to ship in January 2015.
Shipping for the book only extends to the US.
On their Facebook page Hero Games have been asked about the decision. So far, Eran Molot, an Israeli roleplayer has received the most lengthy answer.
There’s kind of an essay-length answer to that question Eran, as it’s one that’s been discussed and blogged about at great length by RPG publishers. But, basically, we feel it’s too expensive for everyone involved at this point. However, we’ll be pushing Fantasy Hero Complete out through international distribution as soon as it is in print – and making it available to international customers through the Hero Store and Indie Press Revolution as well.
Do you agree with Hero Games? If you’d pay for international shipping do you think they should offer it from the Kickstarter level? Or does it make more sense to buy the book later if the Kickstarter is successful?
The Kickstarter is asking for $15,000 and launched today. There’s still 32 days on the clock and has already attracted 52 backers. Despite the shipping restrictions and lack of preview the Kickstarter will benefit from Hero Games proud history and loyal fans.
