Mashable, which was once a site about social media news, has a story about Dungeons & Dragons getting a new logo for the 40th anniversary.
The new logo transforms the ampersand into a dragon.
At the time this post went live there is no announcement on the Wizards.com press site about a new logo. That’s not to say Mashable are making it up. They seem to have something of a scoop and have been talking to Nathan Stewart the brand director for D&D. In an email to the company, Nathan said;
Dungeons & Dragons tabletop RPG players have been used to seeing a new logo with the release of new editions, but never before have we seen such a dramatic evolution of the brand,
Mashable adds that the new logo coincides with the first products being released for the Fifth edition.
The article points out that the ampersand has been underplayed in the previous 40 years of D&D but the new logo increases it in both size and significance.
