Game developer Crytek is keeping busy announcing new titles. Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded caught my attention. Whereas it’s not an RPG such and reminds me more of Left4Dead there’s something about the style that appeals.
In addition, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded will be part of Crytek’s “Games-as-a-Service” approach. Normally “as-a-Service” propositions are free or have a monthly cost. Does this mean Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded will be a free-to-play game?
The game itself has up to four players dealing with large swarms of creatures while they actively track down the big bosses. If Left4Dead was all about making it through the map to survive the final encounter, Hunt might be about tracking down that last boss in the map in order to progress. The game has a content generation system that makes sure no two encounters are ever the same.
The game is set in the late 1800s. There’s a steampunk-vibe to it. Zombiepunk?

Crytek USA CEO David Adams said;
“In Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created,”
