Margaret Weis Productions – the people behind Dragonlance, the Serenity RPG (as based on Joss Whedon’s masterpiece), the Supernatural RPG (as based on the TV series) and the Battlestar Galactic RPG (SyFy’s heroic success story) – have signed Diamond Comic Distributors as global, English language, distributors.
For books the deal is an exclusive one and makes use of Diamond’s sister company – Diamond Book Distributors. For hobby products, including roleplaying books, the deal is non-exclusive.
This means Diamond are the only one who get to ship the Dragonlance novels.
Diamond will be targeting retailers; selling MWP’s products to stores, wholesalers on a non-returnable basis. They’re stocking the shops for Margaret Weis.
In a press release, Margaret Weis, President of MWP said;
“Diamond’s proven record of distribution in the hobby and book markets is the ideal match for our products,
“I’m confident Diamond not only truly understands the audience for our books and games, but truly respects the fan base while endeavoring to provide superior service to us as publisher as well as to the end consumer.”
Update:
MWP got in touch to correct a whole load of errors in this post. They said; “A correction: MWP has never published Dragonlance novels (that remains Wizards of the Coast’s brand), nor do we publish Dragonlance game product after the license expired with the end of 3rd Edition D&D. Diamond are our exclusive partners for distributing our games, books, and related products into the trade market, such as big retail bookstores and so forth.”
Thanks MWP!
