This weekend at PAX the Wizards of the Coast team lifted the lid on a host of 2015 news. Dungeons and Dragons is stepping up it’s digital offering and will bring on a range of expert partners.
Set in Forgotten Realms, Wizards has licensed games from Backflip Studios, Beamdog and Cryptic Studios with Perfect World Entertainment. The panel at PAX that revealed this news was “2015 Videogames in the Forgotten Realms” panel which featured the following folk;
- Nathan Stewart, Brand Director for Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast
- Rob Overmeyer, Executive Producer for Cryptic Studios
- Trent Oster, Creative Director for Beamdog
- Ryan Drag, Creative Director for Backflip Studios
Neverwinter MMORPG on Xbox One
Neverwinter, the D&D MMORPG, will be coming to the Xbox One. It’s due out the first half of 2015. The news was announced by Rob Overmeyer and suggests the Neverwinter is doing well enough on its current platforms to allow for expansion.
Castle defense style
Wizards of the Coast and Backflip Studio will create a “castle defense” style game for mobile. The video above shares more information on the news broken by Ryan Drag. The mobile game is due out in 2015 as well but more information is expected shortly.
Sword Coast
Beamdog’s Trent Oster announced that Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is expanding to iOS, Android and PC. This means more mobile. In addition, there are two updates planned for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition which include the iPhone and cross-platform multiplayer which will be very popular.
