They’re small and indie and I hadn’t heard of Stormborn Studio before or their project Runes: The Forgotten Path.
A few seconds into the video and I was reminded of an old computer RPG from JoWood Productions called Arx Fatalis. In Arx you’re a spellcaster and you used your mouse to draw runes on the screen to cast a spell. It was fun but I recall wiggling the mouse in all sorts of comically inept ways, in a panic reaction, whenever I needed to react quickly.
Stormborn take the concept of drawing runes one stage further. I don’t know why the end of the video had a surprisingly technology twist for me. In hindsight it makes perfect sense.
If you’re tempted by how Runes: The Forgotten Path looks then I’d recommend following the tiny studio on Twitter @StormbornStudio. Do that today and you might be one of the first 10 people to do so. There’s on Facebook as well with a few hundred fans.
