Harebrained Schemes have been knocking it out of the virtual park with their Shadowrun cRPG games and it has been Kickstarter backing that’s made that possible. Little wonder this latest campaign is drawing in megabucks. Check out the details on the official page.
The campaign has to hit $100,000 by Feb 17. This will not be a problem. There’s currently $474,700+ in backing and that figure has gone up several times since I started to write this post. If the campaign launched on the 13th then that’s more than $150K a day given to the project by co-funding partners on Kickstarter.
By co-funding partners I mean gamers like you and I.
This time around Harebrained Schemes has enough money to make the game themselves. That’s what they’re doing. They’ve already started. The Kickstarter is to expand the computer roleplaying game.
A backing of $15 gets you a digital copy of the game – that’s for Windows, Mac, Linux and through Steam, GOG or Humble – as well as all the music and a desktop wallpaper. Superfan? Rich? The $10,000 pledge level which has you become a co-executive producer in the game and have Shadowrun 3rd edition line developer Mike Mulvhill come to your town and run a game for four people provided you’re in the US.
The game is already through most of its stretch goals. Enhanced player controls, animatic scene transitions, Racter, more animatic endings, Gobbet’s side mission, better sound, Gaichu and enhanced cyber are now in the game. Still to come? Is0bel’s side mission, expanded magic, Gaichu’s side mission and a revamped matrix.
