Great news for fellow Android users. 2000 AD is now on Android. You can download it from Google Play.
The app has been available since 2012 on iOS and has become on the best performing iPad newstand properties in the UK. The AppStore run by Apple reveals that the top three sellers are subscriptions, with the Megazine in fourth place and then Dredd: Underbelly.
With the app fans can get 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine on the same day it hits newsstands in the UK. Subscription brings up to three months of back issues and access to a large number of classic strips.
The new purchase system readers can down download, free of charge, DRM-free copies of comics in PDF or CBZ after they’ve bought the title in either the Android or iOS app. This means fans can read those versions of the comic on any device they prefer.
Jason Kingsley the CEO of Rebellion, the British company that owns 2000 AD, said;
Our iPad app has been a great success and proved there’s a big market out there for digital 2000 AD. The Android app has also been the ideal time to roll out the function that allows app users to download DRM-free copies of their purchases from our shop, so they’ll no longer have to choose between in-app or DRM-free comics again. This is the next leap forward for 2000 AD, which will introduce the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic to a whole new readership!”
