One way to get your clever card game made if you’re an indie European studio is to impress Sandy Petersen. It also tends to attract Cthulhu. I think Theomachy is worth checking out over on Kickstarter.
At the time of writing, Theomachy had funded with nearly a month still to collect cash still to run. Unless the project is cancelled we’re looking at a stretch goal winner.
The pledge tiers that offer rewards don’t start small. Leap in at $35 and you’ll get either the Warrior Gods or the Ancients set. There’s an extra $10 for shipping but it means you have everything you need for a 2-4 player game.
There’s savings at higher tiers as $60 will get you both and for only $15 shipping. The tiers above that are all limited in number with the highest, a $1,200 pledge, already sold out. You can no longer be Loki in the game’s art.
There are add-ons such as an exclusive Kickstarter gameboard and hero chips. Stretch goals will add tokens, new pantheons (my favourite) and foil cards. It’s hard to predict just how high this campaign will climb. It’ll go far. It’s worth noting that Petersen Games is a new company and, in part, here because of Kickstarter. I hope we’ll get to see more of Historical Games Factory and the Math PhDs behind it too.
