Late Knight Games are offering a mashup of Pokemon style monster battling with a traditional fantasy RPG. What a clever idea. Check out the full campaign page on Kickstarter.
The funding goal is set at $12,000 and at the time of writing this post there are over 80 backers, more than $6000 in the fund and still 21 days to go. If Late Knight Games can keep the momentum up then MajiMonsters should happen.
I’m not sure why MajiMonsters appeals to me so much. I doubt I’ll ever find a group to play it with. I tell you what, though, this does appeal to me and I suspect the RPG might be popular with online communities and convention play.
A backing of $25 gets you a digital copy of the book plus any extra content that comes with that should stretch goals add more layers. $35 gets the rule book and access to online-only exclusive content. A pledge of $50 plus shipping gets the hard copy of the rule book plus the digital. Do watch that, shipping can be more expensive than the book, but that’s exactly why Late Knight Games need to seperate the two. The limited pledge tiers at higher levels are finding backers too.
The monsters will be important in MajiMonsters and you can browse through a teaser gallery on the official site. Pokemon’s influence is clear but that’s no bad thing for a game like this.
