Interactive ebooks are enjoying something of a popularity boost these days. On the heels of Gollancz stepping into the ring with A Land Fit For Heroes we know have Spanish Cubus Games working with Dave Morris (Fabled Lands, Dragon Warriors) and Paul Gresty on The Frankenstein Wars. You can check out the Kickstarter details here.

Cubus and co are after €8,000 and are about halfway there with about half their time gone, at the time of writing.
It takes just a pledge of €4 to unlock the gamebook app. It’ll be made available on both the iOS and Android platforms.
In the gamebook you’ll get to direct two characters; Tom and Anton Clerval through a branching and non-linear storyline. How’s it non-linear? There’s enough flexibility in that you get to determine whether they become allies or enemies.
The storylines and goals in the gamebook are time-sensitive. This is a make or break feature for me… I just don’t know whether it makes or breaks the game. Books I want to read at my own pace but games are all about timing. With Frankenstein Wars the longer you take the better prepared your opponents will be.
Another influence on the game is weather. This is based on history where famous defeats and successes have been, in part, due on the weather. On a related note you’ll get to direct whole battalions in narrated strategic battles.
A big perk is the art from Rafater (Rafa Teruel) who’s currently working freelance for clients like Games Workshop.
