Wizards of the Coast have launched Magic Duels for the iPad and iPhone. The initial content release is Magic Duels: Origins, can be played for free and downloaded from the App Store.
WotC say that there will be regular updates from corresponding Magic set releases and that with 100% earnable content players can continue to play for free. I translate that to mean there will also be packs you have to buy.
There are hundreds of new cards from the Origins set, including Planeswalkers and thousands of AI opponent decks for solo play. The expanded multiplayer options include the Two-Headed Giant Mode and there’s a new Skill Quest tutorial system to learn.
Magic Duels: Origins will be available on Xbox One and PC later this month and on PlayStation 4 later this year.
Drew Nolosco, lead designer for Magic Duels, told press;
“Today marks the dawn of a new digital experience for Magic: The Gathering,”
“We have listened to our player community and feel that we are delivering the best digital Magic game yet. In addition to releasing on the iPhone, Magic: Duels provides an engaging storyline, allowing players to walk in the footsteps of five of our most iconic Planeswalkers and uncover their never-before-told stories.”
You can downloaded Magic Duels: Origins from the App Store here.
