Infected! is the first RPG from Immersion Studios and Holocaust Survivor Stories: Georgina author Oliver Shead. Zombies are infected humans – fast, deadly and cunning. Mankind is winning, though, and civilisation is beginning to recover which gives the PCs options… this twist on the post-apocalyptic story is Kickstarter that’s doing well, needing just a nudge to pass their pledge target.

I like Shead’s twist on the usual zombie story – or, as I know some gamers dislike the word ‘zombie’ being used for anything other than the traditional shamble – should we call these “rage mutants?” I’ll stick with zombies.
At a glance Immersion’s production value looks high. The first sentence I the “About this project” section of the Kickstarter begins;
Infected! is a Premium-Quality Tabletop RPG…
It’s clear that the team are aiming high. The PDF unlocks at $25 AUD (that’s about $17 US) and then the hardcopy becomes available at $65 AUD (or about $45 US). The limited tier levels above that are sold out or are selling out. At the time of writing Infected had over $10,000 in the bank with a goal of $12,000.
The Kickstarter ticks many boxes. I especially like the video clips that show how skills, attacks, etc work in Immersion RPG. They act as a try before you buy. Want more? There’s a free to download Infected Zombie RPG Sampler available from DriveThruRPG.
Stretch goals include more content in the form of a new region, a new scenario, even more content and perhaps even a new settling such as Victorian Africa or a Black Death setting. Sensibly, but worth paying attention too as a backer, there’s a chart for shipping costs vs number of books you end up going for.
