There is a third Snowpiercer comic coming and Geek Native’s already shared a sneak preview. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, we might get a TV series.
Tomorrow Studios has optioned the rights, based on the 2013 Chris Evans film, to a TV series. Josh Friedman will write the script. Previously, Friedman has worked on titles like Crossbones, Locke & Key, War of the Worlds and Sarah Connor Chronicles.
The movie was a hit despite only having limited release around the world.
Marty Adelstein, who runs Tomorrow Studios, told press;
“We are very excited to be working with Josh on this incredible story,”
“As such a prolific and innovative writer he is the ideal person to create a massive new world in this adaptation. This is an expansive, high-concept project and we are thrilled to be a part of reimagining it for television.”
The first graphic novel is set on an incredibly long train that completes endless loops of the world to keep the surviving humans warm in a snowly apocalypse. The rich live up one end of the train in luxury while the poor live in terrible conditions at the rear.
I’d like to see the TV series (but I’d like to see the movie first) but it’s worth keeping in mind buying the option does not mean the studio will make the series.
