I nearly scrolled past The Feminomicon in today’s long list of Kickstarter discoveries. An art book full of female monsters? I think there’s a monster girl sub-reddit for that sort of thing.
Then I noticed the artist is Christopher Stoll. I know the name. He’s the talent behind this collection of Disney princesses as Avengers. Okay, so let’s check the Kickstarter out.

I wondered where on Earth the trailer was shot. Some cabin in the middle of nowhere? Actually, Stoll is currently touring America in an old school bus that he’s using as a mobile studio. Alright, then!
A pledge of $10 gets you the PDF download of The Feminomicon and $25 gets you the hardcover, excluding shipping.
The style is supposed to be Lovecraft. I kinda get what he means by that but I suspect we’ll get creatures that look less like star spawn and more like women. It also seems pretty clear that clothes won’t be high among the concerns of these monsters.
I also accept Stoll’s point that “female monsters” have shurnk to just a popular few. He’s researched and will help re-introduce creatures like the Ajatar, Batibat, Egle, Futakuchi-onna, Keres, Stikini, Telchines, Yakshini and plenty more.
In fact; here’s the full list.
The Feminomicon will be about 150 pages long, double bound with high quality photo paper. It’s designed to be a coffee table art book or as I call them – a distract your players while you grab your notes before the night’s tabletop RPG session.
I joked about the monster girls sub-reddit at the start of this piece but Christopher Stoll promises a focus on diversity and female empowerment.
