You’ll have seen one or two Simpsons memes on the internet, right? Homer vanishing into a bush. A d’oh or two. Frinkiac has collected 3 million screencaps from recorded episodes of the show.
This is both a search engine and a meme generator. Want to find the episode when Bart sang “Beans, beans, the musical fruit?” Frinkiac will search through its index of screencaps for you and find it. You’ll then be able to look for more screencaps from that episode.
Once you’ve found what you’re looking for you can quickly create a meme. Frinkiac, of course, has the right font.
Frinkiac is the work of Sean Schulte, Allie Young and Paul Kehrer. It is written in Go and the video parsing is done with cgo-ffmpeg. It cuts scenes into 100 equal sized units and compares them. If there’s a large enough colour difference then it saves the screencap.
