The idea behind Insight Fantasy is that player’s discovering a truth about something could change the game. These truths go beyond what the GM knows. For example, all NPCs have secrets that can only be revealed by the players. At the time of writing there are two weeks left on the clock and the game has funded. The campaign asked for 10,000 Norwegian Krone. That’s only about US $1,100. At the minute it has more than double that in funding.
A pledge of KR50, about US$6, unlocks the PDF copy of the Core Rules. Double that and you’ll also get the PDF of the Game Master’s Compendium. An “at cost” version of the hardcover core rules is yours if you’re backing at $US20 along with the PDFs.
The game uses a skill list system, with extra skills becoming available as characters level up, allowing for a wide range of characters. There’s no classes as its the skills that the character ha that defines the role they play in the group.
Additionally, Insight Fantasy does away with Experience Points in favour of a reputation point system instead. The more you change the story, the more reputation you get and the points you earn.
In another twist, Insight Fantasy are unlock stretching goals not just on money targets but on the number of backers they get. At 200 backers everyone due the GM’s Compendium will also get Insight Fantasy inserts for the GM screen.
