Jim Pinto’s second edition of The Carcass is pretty much written. This Kickstarter is to improve the art and tart adding extra classes. The game, which can be played without a GM, is about survival and it’s clear not every PC will. The funding goal was just $1,000 and at the time of writing there’s over $5,500 in the bank and 24 days to go. You can track progress here.
The new system for The Carcass is 5-10-20 in which players ruling between 1 and 5 dice, depending on proficiency and drama) and tabulate the results. 0 is a total failure, 5 is a minimal failure, 10 a success and 20 an overwhelming success.
At a glance it suggests to me that getting those successes will be hard. That seems fitting as the game is set as humanity appears to be winding down, unable to rebuild itself after the apocalypse.
The PDF copy of the game unlocks at $10 and the same pledge level will get you PDF-related stretch goals. Stepping up to $30 gets you the printed softcover of the new game. You can go much higher with your backing and it’s not until $120 that you see hardcover copies becoming available.
For $5,000 Jim Pinto will kick in your door.
Got to say; I’m tempted by this. Postworld Games has a solid reputation and I like my post-apocalyptic games. My main fear is that it’ll be awkward to GM and brutal to play.
