I played a lot of Rifts back at University. There was just so much world, so many dimensions, to play with. Ooph, though, did that system begin to struggle! I can see why fans are pleased the Shane Hensley and co finally have permission to take a Savage Worlds conversion to Kickstater. You can follow the campaign here.
The campaign is going great guns (mega-damage level guns). It had $30,000 in the bank when I checked yesterday, shortly after it launches, and now at the time of writing there’s over $160,000 from more than 1,500 backers. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes.
The PDF “The Tomorrow Legion Player’s Guide” is yours for a $15 backing and step up to $25 (plus shipping) and its yours in softcover. The digital GM tier, approaching 450 backers, is $45 for a bundle of PDFs and you need to reach $85 to get those in softcover. Then it’s $5 per book to turn them into limited edition hardcovers.
The Tomorrow Legion is a new force against the Coalition States and the Federation of Magic. Combine that with the threat of Xitcix, Splugorth Slavers and the rifts themselves and they have their work cut out for them.
The Tomorrow Legion rules has a framework for creating classic Rifts characters like combat cybord, crazies, techno-wizards and mystics along with setting rules, expanded magic and psionics. The GM’s Handbook has a look at the world circa 109 PA, which includes the aftermath of the Siege of Tolkeen and information about the Coalition, the Federation, the Pecos Empire and more on the Tomorrow Legion. There’s an adventurer generator (a good idea; ask any Rifts GM) and rules to help deal with those infinite possibilities of ley lines and rifts. The Savage Foes of North America has more info on the all of the faction powers, a look at the war machines of the Coalition and more of the Federation’s magic.
Stretch goals are flying pat. We’ve got maps for everyone, a character sheet, Tomorrow Legion archetypes, Psi-Stalkers, the Tome of Vengeance adventure and the Techno-Wizard catalog by Sean Patrick Fannon. They may have to add some more.
