Starfinder is Pathfinder in space. It’s Pathfinder in one possible future and the gods are acting strangely.
The project is being helmed by Creative Director James L Sutter, has a microsite of its own and is due out in August 2017. Does that feel like a far future date for a RPG release to you?
Starfinder is set in Glorian’s solar system and the gods have, for some reason they won’t explain, moved Glorian to an unknown location. In its place the cultures of the world have evolved and learned to spread themselves across the solar system.
A key location is the vast space platform call the Absalom Station.
An ascended AI deity granted access to the hyperspace dimension and this has allowed the races of the system to travel faster than light but there are horrors in that darkness.
Starfinder will be releases under the Open Gaming License and Paizo are already encouraging third party additions to the game. The space version of Pathfinder will be standalone but backwards compatible. This means you’ll be able to use those RPG bestiaries in these new worlds.
