Have you ever bought a truck load of indie RPGs from Humble Bundle for a fraction of their list price? Just this week Paizo was running a $600 deal with Dynamite. Humble Bundle is popular with gamers. That’s probably why IGN has bought the site for an undisclosed sum.
In an interview with Gamasutra the cofounder of Humble, John Graham, and IGN exec Mitch Galbraith, gave the impression the site isn’t going to change much. For now.
Galbraith said;
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it,”
“The idea is just to feed them with the resources they need to keep doing what they’re doing.”
There are some theories as to what Humble Bundle might put those resources too. They’ve been publishing their own games, running a subscription model, while keeping up the games discount retailer and charity business they’ve become famous for.
The changes are that Humble’s horizons will expand. John Graham talked about the short-term compared to a longer term vision.
“We want to stick to the fundamentals in the short term. We don’t want to disrupt anything we’re doing right already,”
“Because of the shared vision and overlap of our customer bases, there’s going to be a lot of opportunities.”
