Sci-Fi channel found guilty of showing too many ads in the UK

Official British watchdog has found that NBC Universal’s Sci-Fi channel breached the rules by showing too many adverts for the second time in the month.

Rule four of the British code on the scheduling of television advertising (COSTA) states that TV stations are only allowed to show 12 minutes of ads every hour.

The Sci-Fi channel (which is expected to rebrand as Syfy) exceeded that total. Additionally, Ofcom said it was concerned the NC Universal procedures were not strong enough to stop this breach happening again. The channel was warned that further regulatory action may be taken against it if the problem reoccurred.
